Faculty

Students work closely with NTU’s distinguished faculty—curators and museum professionals, scholars, heritage specialists—while gaining hands-on experience through collaborative projects and internships. Our faculty has a wide network of partnerships with museums, archives, galleries, and cultural institutions across Southeast Asia and beyond.



Current Instructors

Prof Ute Meta Bauer
Founding Director, NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts Singapore

Ute Meta Bauer is a curator of exhibitions and presentations, connecting contemporary art, film, video and sound through transdisciplinary formats. Since October 2013 she serves as Founding Director of NTU CCA Singapore – Centre for Contemporary Art, Singapore — a research centre of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where she is a full professor in the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM). Since 2018 she is a Co-Chair of the Master of Arts in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices co-initiated by NTU School of Art Design and Media and the NTU CCA Singapore.

Assoc. Prof Laura Miotto
Programme Co-Director

Laura Miotto is an award-winning exhibition designer and educator with over 20 years of experience in creative direction and architectural design. Her work focuses on heritage interpretation and sensorial design strategies across museums, thematic galleries, and public spaces. Notable projects include the Singapore Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale (2022), the Borneo Cultures Museum (2022), Gallop Extension at the Singapore Botanic Gardens (2021), the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (2015), and the Living Galleries at the National Museum of Singapore (2006). A recipient of the President’s Design Award Singapore (2010), she is an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University and co-director of the MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marc Gloede
Programme Co-Director

Marc Glöde (PhD) is a curator, critic and film scholar. His work focuses on the relationship between images, technology, space, and the body, as well as the dynamics between fields such as art/architecture, art/film, and film/architecture. He received his PhD at The Free University of Berlin and has taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, the FU Berlin, Academy of Fine Arts Berlin, and was Assistant Professor at the ETH Zürich. Since 2017, he has been an Assistant Professor at NTU ADM, Singapore, and Co-Director of the MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices.

Dr. Franca Cole
Part Time Lecturer/Research Associate

A conservator and archaeologist with more than 30 years’ experience, Franca is a material culture researcher and collections expert. Trained at UCL as an archaeological conservator, working in museums and excavations in Greece, Turkey, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Norway, Peru, Chile, UAE, Malaysia, India, Qatar and Syria. Her MPhil and PhD at University of Cambridge used Sarawak Museum archive materials to investigate the role of indigenous ceramics in mortuary practices at Niah Caves. Franca was Post-Doctoral fellow at University of Leicester and Lecturer in Conservation Studies at UCL Qatar. She has been Sarawak Museum Department’s Consultant in Conservation and Archaeology since 2017 and part-time lecturer for NTU Singapore’s MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practice since 2018.

Louis Ho
Part Time Lecturer

Louis Ho is a Singapore-based curator, critic and art historian. He was formerly a member of the curatorial team at the Singapore Art Museum, and co-curator of the Singapore Biennale in 2016. As an independent curator, his practice reflects experimental and minority voices in this region; he also maintains a keen interest in the contemporary art of Myanmar. His research is concerned with contemporary visual cultures, with a particular focus on the specific socio-cultural contexts in which various visual vocabularies have emerged in Southeast Asia.
